Rutland is the smallest historic county in England, and is home to the UK's largest man-made lake - Rutland Water. There are only two towns: Oakham (the county town) and Uppingham. Rutland has developed a reputation for gastronomy. Described as "England's secret foodie heartland" by the Guardian, Rutland offers "astonishing" culinary variety.
